Kensington is named after the Kensington Park racecourse, and it is a small, established, largely owner-occupied suburb bounded by Canning Highway, Berwick Street, Kent Street, Hayman Road and South Terrace. We are deliberately not going to assign it a building era, because that is the one thing about this suburb we could not verify properly and inventing local colour is worse than leaving it out.
What the numbers do tell us is clear enough. With nearly seven homes in ten owner-occupied and the lowest rental share of any suburb we cover, the work here is not rekeying between tenants.
