Early 1900s brick, now being renovated
North Perth is in the City of Vincent. Most of its homes are solid brick houses built from the early 1900s, and many are being renovated. North Perth Primary School opened in 1899, and Beatty Park was built for the 1962 Commonwealth Games.
The 2021 Census counted 4,439 homes. About two-thirds are separate houses, close to one in five is a townhouse or semi, and about one in six is a flat. Around two-thirds of homes are owned outright or with a mortgage.
Renovations bring their own lock problems. A door gets rehung, a new deadbolt goes in, a security screen is added, and the house ends up on two or three different keys. Where the locks are compatible we rekey them to one key, and we tell you on site if one of them can’t be matched.

Can every lock in the house go on one key?
Often, yes. It depends on the brand and type of each lock, including the screen doors. We check them on site and tell you if one can’t be matched. More on rekeying.
Can you fit a digital lock to an older door?
If the door is solid and closes properly, usually yes. We look at the door first and tell you if it needs work before a keypad lock goes on.
My lock stopped working after the renovation. Can you fix it?
Usually. When a door is rehung or a frame moves, the latch and strike stop lining up. We adjust or repair it where we can and replace it only if we have to.
Is it dearer after hours?
Yes. After hours costs more and depends on the time. We give you the price on the phone and agree it before we come out.
