Rebuilt from 1991
East Perth used to hold the East Perth Gas Works, the East Perth Power Station and a railway yard. The East Perth Redevelopment Authority was set up in 1991 to rebuild the area, and the homes there now are mostly apartments, including around Claisebrook Cove. The Matagarup Bridge links East Perth to Optus Stadium in Burswood.
The 2021 Census counted about 7,600 homes, and close to 90 per cent are flats. About six in ten homes are rented.
So the lock work here is mostly modern hardware: the door into your apartment, the letterbox and the balcony slider. We don’t work on intercoms, fob systems or access control. In a secure building we need you or a resident to get us to the door.
