Locksmith in Bayswater, Perth WA
Older streets near the station, townhouses in between, and a town centre planned to grow much taller.
Amco is a mobile locksmith for Bayswater, Western Australia 6053, in Perth’s eastern suburbs. We come to you to rekey and repair house locks, open lockouts and make car keys. Seven in ten Bayswater homes are owner-occupied and one in six is a townhouse or semi (ABS 2021), so two jobs suit the suburb well: a rekey after you buy, and getting a townhouse’s doors and gate onto one key.

Old streets, new townhouses, taller plans
The railway came through Bayswater in 1881 and the suburb grew out from it. The City of Bayswater now protects two of its older parts: a heritage area along part of King William Street, and the Bayswater character protection area, kept for its older homes and streetscapes. Across the whole suburb, eight in ten homes are separate houses and about one in six is a townhouse, villa or semi.
For locks, that splits two ways. Bayswater front doors carry a real mix of old and new hardware, and on the older ones replacing the lock is often the better call than repairing it. We look first and tell you which, and why. A townhouse is different: the front door, courtyard gate and garage side door often came on three different keys, and where the hardware allows we key them alike so one key opens the lot.
The town centre is changing. Bayswater station is now the junction for the Midland, Airport and Ellenbrook lines, the centre sits inside the METRONET East redevelopment area, and the plans allow buildings of 6 to 15 storeys near the station with room for about 2,568 more homes. When those apartments come, the work there will shift to unit doors and letterbox locks. For now, Bayswater is a house and townhouse suburb.

Your existing locks re-pinned to a new key, so every old key stops working.

Before you book in Bayswater
Rekey after settlement
Nobody can tell you how many keys the last owner handed out. A rekey makes every one of them useless and keeps your locks.
A townhouse on one key
Front door, courtyard gate, garage side door. Where the locks are compatible we key them alike.
Older doors, mixed hardware
On older doors a new lock is often the better buy. We tell you why before we start, with the price.
From one of my jobs: two new keys, down by the river
Early in September a customer lost his car keys in the river while he was fishing. His car was a Holden VE Commodore, and I made him two new remote keys for it down by the river.
Keys in the water, down a drain or simply gone, the fix is the same: we come to the car and make the new keys there. More on Holden keys and car key replacement.

Straight answers
We’ve just bought in Bayswater. Do we need new locks?
Usually not new ones. A rekey changes the pins inside the locks you already have, so the old keys stop working. It’s quicker and cheaper than replacing them, and nothing changes on the door.
Can the townhouse door, gate and garage all go on one key?
Often, yes. It depends on the brand and type of each lock, so we check them on site. If one can’t be matched, we tell you and give you the options.
Should I repair or replace an old lock?
It depends on the lock. Bayswater has a real mix of hardware, and on older doors replacing is often the better value. We check it first and give you the options and the price before any work.
What does a locksmith cost in Bayswater?
The same as anywhere else in Perth. A lockout is from $195 inc GST in business hours, and there’s no charge if we can’t get in. A rekey is $195 for the first lock, with the call-out and 2 keys included, then $55 for each extra lock. After-hours costs more and varies with the time; the price is agreed before we start. Prices checked October 2026. More on our locksmith cost page.
Do you do business locks in the town centre?
Yes: shopfront locks, rekeys when staff leave, and doors that won’t lock at closing time. We don’t do alarms, CCTV or access control systems.
