Rekeys, lockouts and spare car keys have prices, set out just below. Other jobs vary too much for one number, so we ask a few questions on the phone, give you one price for your job, and stick to it. Nothing is added at the door, and there is no separate callout fee.

How much does a rekey, a lockout or a spare car key actually cost?
A rekey is $195 inc GST for the first lock, call-out and 2 keys included, then $55 inc GST for each extra lock. A lockout attempt is from $195 inc GST in business hours, with no charge if we can't get you in. A spare car key starts from $240 inc GST if you still have a working key (from $295 for a proximity or push-start key), and all-keys-lost jobs cost more, quoted for your make and model before we start.

Worked example: a typical Perth home with 5 locks is $195 + 4 × $55 = $415 inc GST, done in one visit.
What pushes any of these higher: more locks or a bigger property (rekeys), a lock that has to be drilled rather than picked (we tell you before we start, then replace the barrel and key it to your existing key at no extra charge), the type of key and whether all keys are lost (cars), and the time of day.

Why other jobs don’t have a set price
“A locksmith” covers opening a front door at midnight, rekeying eight locks after a settlement, and cutting a car key for a vehicle with no key at all. Those are not variations on one job, they are three different trades’ worth of work. The three jobs people ask about most have prices above. For the rest, one published number would be wrong for nearly everyone who read it, so we ask a few questions instead and give you a figure for your job.
What we promise about the number
- One price, agreed before we start. You hear it on the phone, not at the door.
- No callout fee on top, and no charge for looking.
- If a lock has to be drilled to get you in, you hear it from us first, and the replacement barrel is matched to your existing key free of charge. Drilling is never added to your bill.
- If we attempt a lock and cannot open it, there is no charge for the attempt.
- After hours costs more than business hours. We tell you the difference before you commit, and if it can wait until morning we will say so.
- A 5 per cent discount for WA Seniors Card holders.
The three questions that decide it
Whatever the job, the number comes down to roughly the same three things: how much work there is (one lock or eight, one key or a whole set), whether something has to be replaced or can be repaired or rekeyed, and when you need us. Everything else is detail.

Is the price on this page what I'll actually pay?
Yes – these are the real prices we charge in business hours, inc GST, with the call-out included. The only things that change the number are what we find on the day (extra locks, a drilled cylinder, all keys lost) or an after-hours booking, and we always agree the price with you first.
What if you have to drill the lock?
You hear it from us before we start, and the replacement barrel is matched to your existing key free of charge. Drilling is never added to your bill.
What if you can't open it?
If we attempt a lock and cannot open it, there is no charge for the attempt.
Is a locksmith cheaper than the car dealer?
For the makes we cover (Japanese, Korean and most American-built), usually yes, and there is no tow because we come to the car. For other European and Chinese makes we do not make keys, so the dealer is the answer and we will say so.
