1950s fronts, newer villas behind
The name comes from a Cloverdale Estate marketed in 1910, but the suburb was only formally recognised in 1954 and the housing is 1950s to 70s single-storey brick and tile, since heavily infilled. The streetscape signature is an original brick-and-tile front with newer grouped villas built behind or beside it.
Two things follow. First, the older stock carries aged mortice and cylinder hardware and timber jambs that have dropped, where repair or replace is a real question, and now and then a barrel has to be drilled — in which case we tell you first and fit a new one keyed to your existing key at no charge. Second, villa groups can mean more than one lock to think about: a shared driveway can bring letterbox banks, shared gates and bin stores, and the question of who holds what.
