Late 1970s estates, and a station that only just opened

Ballajura was settled in 1905 but stayed rural until residential development began in the late 1970s and accelerated through the 1980s and early 1990s, including the Lakeshore and The Lakes estates built around artificial lakes. The streetscapes have matured and there has been very little infill, so what you see is largely the original stock, now thirty to forty-five years old.

On a generous block a house can have a front door, a back door, a laundry door, a garage personnel door, a side gate, a shed and security screens, which can take it past the six to eight locks of a typical Perth house. We count them with you and agree the price before we start.

On houses of that age, sticking deadlatches, worn cylinders, dropped doors and tired sliding door or screen door locks are worth checking, and plenty can be repaired. With four in five homes owner-occupied, a digital or keypad lock can make sense for a family staying put.

Ballajura station opened on 8 December 2024 on the Ellenbrook line, although it physically sits in neighbouring Whiteman. Most of the suburb still drives: about seven in ten people get to work by car, with two cars per household, so a spare car key is worth having.

Local advice

Worth knowing in Ballajura

A settlement rekey

House, shed, garage and gate to one key on the day you get the keys.

A back door that will not latch

Often the door has dropped rather than the lock failing, so we check the door first.

A keypad lock for the family

A code each, instead of a key hidden under a pot. Ask for a model that also takes a key.

Our promise

No surprises on the day

  • Price agreed first. You know the cost before any work starts, including after hours.
  • Repair before replace. We only swap a lock when it is genuinely worn out.
  • Drilling never costs you extra. If a barrel has to be drilled we say so before we start, then fit a new one keyed to your existing key at no charge.

Count the front, back, laundry, garage personnel door, side gate, shed and the screens. On a bigger block that can be more than the six to eight of a typical Perth house. We count them with you before quoting so there are no surprises.

Yes, and the day you get the keys is the right time. You have no way of knowing who holds a copy — previous owners, tradespeople, relatives. A rekey makes every one of those keys useless without changing a single lock.

Yes. Ballajura station opened on 8 December 2024 on the Ellenbrook line, though it physically sits just over the boundary in Whiteman. Many pages still say the suburb has no station.

Yes, and we would recommend it. Tell us you want a key as well as a code, and we’ll fit a model that takes one. We fit McGrath, Lion Head, Lockton, Carbine, Lockwood and Yale.

Yes, we come to you and cut and program it in the driveway. Japanese, Korean and most US-built makes, plus Volkswagen spares while you still have a working key.
