Beechboro is unusually easy to date, which helps. East Beechboro went up between 1979 and the late 1980s on blocks of roughly 600 to 800 square metres — brick-and-tile three-bedroom homes with the odd duplex. West Beechboro followed in the mid-to-late 1980s on the same sized blocks, mostly three-bedroom with a few four-bedroom houses. Altone Road divides the two. Bennett Springs and Orchid Park split off to become their own suburb in 2011, so they are not part of this.
What that means in practice is a very predictable house. Forty-year-old door furniture, a single screen door lock, often no deadbolt at all on the back door, and a big backyard with a side gate and a shed. Can you make a spare car key at my house?
Yes. We come to the car and cut and program the key there — for Toyota, Mazda, Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia, Ford and Holden among others. Most take about half an hour once we are at the car.
I have lost the only key to my HiLux. What now?
