Sixty years of housing, side by side
Dianella was settled late because its sandy soil was no good for farming. Four localities were joined as Dianella in 1958, and houses went up through the 1960s, starting north of Walter Road and Grand Promenade. The St Andrews, Montclair Rise and Dress Circle estates came last, in the early 2000s. Dianella is split between the City of Stirling and the City of Bayswater.
The 2021 Census counted 10,532 homes. About seven in ten are separate houses and about a quarter are townhouses or villas. Close to four in ten homes are owned outright.
For locks, that means there’s no single answer. On the older homes the hardware may be decades old, and a repair is worth trying before a new lock.
