Houses, villas and an airport fence
Redcliffe was subdivided in 1897 and its primary school dates from 1908, but the suburb today is a mix of residential, semi-industrial and retail buildings. Housing is predominantly 1950s and 60s detached with a high 21 per cent villa and townhouse share — a lot of block subdivision, but no apartment towers. Redcliffe station opened on the Airport Line in October 2022, which has brought new commuter traffic and steady renewal.
Residentially the work is straightforward and predictable: whole-house rekeys after a purchase or a tenancy change, worn hardware on houses of that age, and screen door locks. With no apartment stock, letterbox banks and common entry doors barely come up here — a real difference from Rivervale a few kilometres away.
What Redcliffe does have that almost nowhere else does is the airport. Hotels inside the suburb serve fly-in workers on overnight turnarounds, and travellers coming off a flight who cannot get into a car left in long-term parking are a real and repeating job. We come to the car. We are not based at the airport and we do not claim to be, but we are minutes from that boundary and we do this work regularly.
