Carine

A fifteen-year suburb

Carine was established in 1973. The part south of what is now Reid Highway went up in the early 1970s, and residential development ran from 1975 through to the final stages in 1987. That is unusually tight, so much of the original hardware is of a similar age.

Sticking deadbolts, worn cylinders and tired screen door locks are worth a look, and if locks have been added one at a time over the years, a rekey can put them all on one key. Households average 2.8 people, so say how many keys you need.

The one exception is the former Carine TAFE site, now the Lake Carine Gardens estate from 2013 onward. That pocket has newer doors, which can suit a keypad lock.
