What we do for homes
Tap a service for the short version.
Rekeying
Old keys stop working, your locks stay. A typical Perth house has 6 to 8 locks and takes about an hour on site. If your doors and screens are different brands, we can put them on one key.
Lock repairs and new locks
Sticking, loose or worn locks fixed on site. We repair when it’s worth it and only suggest a new lock when that’s cheaper than another visit. New locks are keyed to your existing key.
Digital locks
PIN, tag and app locks from McGrath, Lion Head, Lockton, Carbine, Lockwood and Yale, supplied, fitted and set up with you. Each lock we install has a second way to get in.
House lockouts
Locked out? We open it for you. Should a barrel need drilling, you’ll hear it from us first, then the new one is matched to your current key, free of charge.
Security screen doors
Triple and single screen door locks repaired, replaced or rekeyed to match your other doors.
Window, letterbox and padlocks
The smaller locks around the house, sorted in the same visit.
Key cutting
Spare house, unit and letterbox keys cut on the spot in our van.
Broken key removal
A snapped key stuck in the lock, taken out cleanly.
No surprises on the day
- Price agreed first. You know the cost before any work starts.
- Repair before replace. We only swap a lock when it’s genuinely worn out.
- Drilling never costs you extra. Should a barrel need drilling, you’ll hear it from us first, then the new one is matched to your current key, free of charge.
Screen doors, sliding doors and rentals
Screen door lock sticking, or a sliding door that won’t lock? See security screen door locks and sliding door locks.
Rentals in Western Australia
Since 2019, WA rental homes have to meet minimum security standards. In short: the main entry door needs a deadlock, or a key-lockable security screen door that meets Australian Standard AS 5039; other external doors need a deadlock, patio bolt or compliant screen door; and external windows need locks. Check the full rules on the Consumer Protection WA site. We can bring a rental up to standard in one visit.

Rekey or new locks when I move in?
Rekey, in most cases. It makes every old key useless and keeps your existing locks. We only suggest replacing a lock if it’s worn out.
Can one key open my front door and my screen door?
Usually, yes. If they’re different brands (often Gainsborough and Lockwood), we change the screen door cylinders so one key works for both.
Will you have to drill my lock?
Usually not. Should a barrel need drilling, you’ll hear it from us first, then the new one is matched to your current key, free of charge.
Do you do master key systems or safes?
No. We don’t do master key systems (apart from letterbox banks in unit blocks), safes, alarms or CCTV. If it’s outside what we do, we’ll put you onto someone who can help.
Should I change the locks when a tenant moves out?
It’s the safest move, because you can’t be sure every key came back. A rekey means the old keys stop working without buying new locks.
Does a locksmith need a licence in Western Australia?
Yes. In Western Australia, anyone installing security hardware needs a WA Police licence. Magnus holds security installer licence 30629.
Is the price agreed before you start?
Always. After-hours work costs more, and you’ll know the price before we start. Our 24 hour emergency locksmith page covers lockouts at night and on weekends.
Is there a seniors discount?
Yes, 5% off with a WA Seniors Card.
Do you fix sliding door and screen door locks?
Yes, on hinged and sliding screen doors and sliding glass patio doors.
