Quick answer

Amco is a mobile locksmith for Fremantle, Perth. We open lockouts, rekey and repair locks on houses, apartments and shops, and make car keys at the car. About six in ten Fremantle homes are townhouses, semis or apartments, and about four in ten are rented (ABS 2021). On older buildings we work with the lock that’s there wherever we can.

The West End, and everything around it

Fremantle’s West End was added to the State Register of Heritage Places in 2016. It was the largest single listing the state had made: about 250 buildings from the gold boom era. Many of them are now shops, offices and homes.

Across the suburb, the 2021 Census counted 5,137 homes. Four in ten are separate houses, about a third are townhouses or semis, and more than a quarter are apartments. Around four in ten homes are rented.

On an older building the door often needs to stay as it is, so we start with the lock that’s already there: rekey it, repair it, or fit a replacement that suits the door. In an apartment the job is usually your own front door, the letterbox and the balcony door. The building’s main entry is a matter for the strata.

The limestone cottages south of the town centre have their own page: locksmith in South Fremantle.

Worth knowing

Before you book in Fremantle

Heritage door? Rekey first

Rekeying changes the key, not the lock, so the door stays exactly as it is.

Apartment lockouts

We do your own front door and letterbox. The building’s entry system belongs to the strata.

Have ID ready

We ask for photo ID and proof you live there before we open any home.

From one of our jobs

A recent Fremantle job: a property had been broken into and the keys were stolen. We rekeyed every lock to one key, fitted a deadbolt to the front door, cut keys for the windows and replaced a broken screen door lock.

No. We do your own front door, letterbox and balcony door. The building’s main entry system is for the strata to sort out.
