Market gardens until the 1990s
Madeley was rural market gardening land until the 1990s, identified as a high-priority development area in 1996, officially named in 1998 and built out rapidly from 2001. It is the newest suburb we cover — a decade younger than Currambine and thirty years younger than Duncraig.
That changes what we are asked to do. There is very little worn-out-cylinder repair here because the hardware is 2000s and 2010s and still in good condition. Instead the work is additions and upgrades: digital and keypad locks on doors that take them easily, a second deadbolt, garage and side-gate locks, and rekeying after a purchase so the previous owner’s keys stop working.
The car side is the other half and it is genuinely strong. Nearly half the households are on a mortgage with 1.8 children per family and two cars per driveway, and with no train station everything here is driven.
