What decides the cost of changing your locks
Rekeying has a set price per lock, shown below. For anything more, the cost comes down to four things, and we set them out here.
The count of locks, whether you need a rekey or new hardware, what hardware you choose, and whether it is business hours. A rekey of a typical six to eight lock Perth house takes about an hour and costs far less than replacing the same locks. We agree one price with you before we start and add nothing at the door.

How much does it cost to change (rekey) locks in Perth?
Rekeying, not replacing, is how most Perth homes get new keys without new hardware: it's $195 inc GST for the first lock, with the call-out and 2 keys included, then $55 inc GST for each extra lock rekeyed at the same visit.

Worked example: most Perth homes have 5–8 locks. Five locks is $195 + 4 × $55 = $415 inc GST; six locks is $470; seven is $525 – all in one visit, inc GST.
What pushes the price higher: more locks on the property, and a lock old or worn enough that it needs drilling rather than picking (we always say so before we start, then fit a new barrel keyed to your existing key at no extra charge). After-hours pushes it higher too.

The four things that set the price
1. How many locks
People ring asking about “the lock” and then we count six to eight — front, back, laundry, garage personnel door, side gate, and two or three security screens. That is the normal Perth house, and it is the single biggest thing driving the number. On a big block with a shed and a second gate it runs higher. We count them with you before quoting, so nothing moves later.
2. Rekey or replace
A rekey changes the pins inside the locks you already own so a new key works and the old keys stop. New hardware means buying locks. Rekeying is dramatically cheaper and in most cases it is exactly what people actually need — they want their keys changed, not their locks. We only recommend replacing when a lock is worn or failing enough that a new one is cheaper than a return visit.
3. What hardware, if any
If something does need replacing, the choice ranges from a basic deadlatch to a digital lock with a fingerprint reader. That is a wide range and it is your call — we will tell you what each one actually buys you and let you decide, rather than steering you at the expensive end.
4. When
After hours and weekends cost more than business hours. We say that before you commit, not afterwards. If it can wait until morning we will tell you what the difference is.
The drilling question
Now and then a lock leaves no other option and has to be drilled. Our rule: you’ll hear it from us before we start, and the new barrel is matched to your current key, free of charge. Drilling is never on your bill.
What is not on the bill
No separate callout, no fee for looking, no surprise at the door. One price for the job we described on the phone. If we arrive and the job is genuinely different from what was described, we stop and talk to you first.
