Carbine is the range we suggest when someone wants keyless entry without an app, a subscription or anything to charge. The electronic models open with a PIN code and cards, tags, stickers or fobs, with a key override. The Bluetooth versions add phone control, and the CDL7 is mechanical, so it runs on nothing.

Keyless without the complications
Not everybody wants a lock that talks to their phone. Plenty of our customers want exactly one thing: to stop carrying a key, and to hand a code to their kids. Carbine does that without an account to create or a hub to plug in.
The tag entry is the part people end up liking most. A sticker on the back of a phone case or a fob on a school bag lets someone in who is too young to be trusted with a code, and a tag can be cancelled in seconds if it goes missing.
It is also the range we recommend for a granny flat, a shed with a decent door, or a rear entrance where the budget for the whole job matters more than the feature list.

The case for a mechanical lock
The CDL7 is worth a paragraph on its own, because it solves a problem no smart lock can. It has no batteries and no electronics. You press the buttons in the right order and the door opens, and it will still do that in ten years after nobody has thought about it once.
That makes it the right lock for a store room, a pool gate, a back gate, a shed, or a commercial door where a dozen people need in and nobody is going to manage an app. It is weather resistant and, with its matching latch, fire rated for two hours.
What it will not do is give you an entry log, a temporary code or anything on your phone. If you want to know when your teenager got home, buy an electronic one. If you want a lock you will never think about again, this is it.
No surprises on the day
- Price agreed first. You know what the lock and the fitting cost before we start.
- The right lock for the door. We check thickness, backset and how exposed the door is before we order anything.
- Set up with you. Codes, fingerprints and the app are done before we leave, and you always keep a backup way in.
Help with your Carbine lock
How do I change the code on a Carbine lock?
Carbine keypads are programmed with the master code from the keypad itself. The CEL2 takes PIN codes and tags, so you can delete a lost tag without changing anyone’s code. If you have lost the master code or the lock was installed by someone else and never handed over properly, we can come and reset it.
The batteries are flat. How do I get in?
You still get in. Every Carbine lock we fit keeps a second way in — on most models that is a key, and on some you can hold a nine volt battery against the contacts on the front to wake the lock up long enough to enter your code. Then change the batteries: AA alkaline cells in most models. The battery-free CDL7 is mechanical and has nothing to replace.
Where do I find the manual?
The manufacturer publishes them on carbine.com.au. If the model number has worn off the lock, send us a photo of it and we will tell you which model you have.
The keypad has stopped responding. What now?
Nine times out of ten it is the batteries, even when the lock has not warned you — cold mornings and cheap cells both shorten their life. Replace them with fresh alkaline cells first. If it still will not respond, use the backup key to get in and call us; we service these rather than automatically replacing them.
Can I get into the app from away from the house?
Most Carbine models are deliberately code-and-tag only, with no app and no WiFi. That is the point of them for a lot of households.
Can you fix a Carbine lock you did not install?
Yes. We work on Carbine locks whoever fitted them, including ones bought at a shop and installed by the homeowner. Send us a photo of the lock and tell us what it is doing.

Do Carbine locks need an app?
No. The CEL2, CEL 3-in-1 and CDL2 work entirely at the door with a code, card or tag. Only the Bluetooth versions connect to a phone, and that is optional.
What is the point of a lock with no batteries?
The CDL7 is mechanical, so there is nothing to go flat and nothing to update. For a shed, a gate or a store room that a lot of people use, it is the lock that gives the least trouble.
Can I use a tag instead of a code?
Yes, and it is a good option for kids. Cards, tags, stickers and fobs all work, and any one of them can be cancelled if it is lost.
Will a Carbine fit my existing door?
