Built for a Perth summer
A west-facing front door in February is a hard life for a lock. The narrow lever models in this range are rated IP66 on the outside, which is the highest weather rating we see on a domestic digital lock, and it shows in how they age on exposed doors.
The other thing that sets Lockton apart is the key cylinder. It is rekeyable, so if a key goes missing years from now, the backup side of the lock can be re-pinned to a new key rather than replaced. On most digital locks the backup cylinder is a sealed unit and a lost key means a new lock.
They also hold up to 300 users, which sounds like overkill for a house and is exactly right for a small office, a workshop or a short-stay property that turns over every few days.

Hinged, sliding or standard timber
The E-Series comes in three body styles and picking the wrong one is the only real way to get this lock wrong.
Narrow lever, hinged is for a door with a thin aluminium frame that swings open. It takes a euro cylinder and can be set up to throw bolts at two points instead of one.
Narrow lever, sliding is the same lock with the internals arranged for a door that slides. Backsets from 20 to 45 mm, which covers most patio and unit doors in Perth, Western Australia.
Round rose lever is the one for an ordinary timber door with a normal latch, adjustable between a 60 and 70 mm backset.
If you are not sure which you have, photograph the edge of the door with it open. That one picture tells us the frame type, the backset and whether the lock will fit.

Help with your Lockton lock
How do I change the code on a Lockton lock?
Lockton locks take up to a few hundred users depending on the model, and codes are added and removed from the keypad with the master code. If you have lost the master code or the lock was installed by someone else and never handed over properly, we can come and reset it.
The batteries are flat. How do I get in?
You still get in. Every Lockton lock we fit keeps a second way in — on most models that is a key, and on some you can hold a nine volt battery against the contacts on the front to wake the lock up long enough to enter your code. Then change the batteries: AA alkaline cells, and the E-Series is rated for outdoor exposure, which matters on a west-facing Perth door.
Where do I find the manual?
The manufacturer publishes them on sglocks.com.au. If the model number has worn off the lock, send us a photo of it and we will tell you which model you have.
The keypad has stopped responding. What now?
Nine times out of ten it is the batteries, even when the lock has not warned you — cold mornings and cheap cells both shorten their life. Replace them with fresh alkaline cells first. If it still will not respond, use the backup key to get in and call us; we service these rather than automatically replacing them.
Can I get into the app from away from the house?
App control on Lockton runs through the G2 gateway. Lockton is supplied in Western Australia through SG Locks.
Can you fix a Lockton lock you did not install?
Yes. We work on Lockton locks whoever fitted them, including ones bought at a shop and installed by the homeowner. Send us a photo of the lock and tell us what it is doing.

Where do you get Lockton locks from?
Through SG Locks, who supply the E-Series range in Australia. We order the model to suit your door rather than fitting whatever is on the van.
What does IP66 actually mean for a door lock?
It means the outside of the lock is built to handle dust and heavy rain. On a door that gets full afternoon sun and storms off the coast, that rating is the difference between a lock that lasts and one that does not.
Can the backup key be rekeyed?
Yes, and that is unusual. The E-Series cylinder can be re-pinned to a new key, so a lost key does not mean a new lock.
How many people can use one lock?
Up to 300 users, using any mix of fingerprints, PIN codes and tags.
Do I need the G2 gateway?
Only if you want to change codes or unlock the door while you are away. Without it the lock still works normally at the door.
